Actor Bill Murray will appear in Paul Feig's 2016 remake of the 1984 blockbuster "Ghostbusters."

Murray, who played Dr. Peter Venkman in the original "Ghostbusters" as well as "Ghostbusters II" (1989), was reportedly hesitant to appear in the latest "Ghostbusters" after the relatively weak performance of the 1989 sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter, but has now confirmed his participation.

Feig's 2016 reboot will see Murray join up with past and present stars of "Saturday Night Live," such as Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Melissa McCarthy and Chris Hemsworth also star in the film.

The third "Ghostbusters" is expected to hit theaters on July 22, 2016.
