It's been a "rough" week for Justin Bieber, but a rougher week for fans who paid to see him in concert on Thursday, when the Canadian pop star ended his performance in Oslo after only one song.

After he walked off stage, Bieber claimed in an Instagram post that he was tired from a "rough week" of touring, and that he bailed because fans in the front row were refusing to co-operate. Bieber had been trying to mop up a spill at the front of the stage, as several excited fans were trying to touch him.

"In no way did I mean to come across mean, but chose to end the show as the people in the front row would not listen," Bieber wrote in the post. He added that he hopes people will understand where he is "coming from," and that he is "working on getting better at responding not reacting."

A video of the performance shows Bieber using his foot to wipe a cloth across the front of the stage, then immediately stopping to plead with fans to back off. "Stop it! Come on, I said stop it!" He says. "Listen to me, I'm trying to wipe the floor. Give me a second."

Bieber can be seen leaning over to briefly wipe the floor, before he abruptly stands up and storms off stage. "Never mind. I'm done. I'm not doing the show," he says.

The spill appears to have been from an open water bottle Bieber tossed into the crowd moments earlier.

In his Instagram post, Bieber apologized to fans in the back of the venue, which held about 950 people for the concert. "I'll be sure to make it up to you next time on tour…" he wrote.

Earlier this week, the pop star abruptly walked out of a studio during an interview with a Spanish radio station a, after the hosts asked him about rising YouTube stars in Europe. Bieber pursed his lips, sighed, then stood up and walked out.

Earlier in the interview, the Spanish hosts had been asking him some potentially uncomfortable questions about his love life.

Bieber has been touring to promote his next album, "Purpose," which goes on sale Nov. 13.
