CTV's Ben O'Hara-Byrne is in Istanbul, Turkey, reporting on the anti-government protests taking place against Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

What started as a peaceful demonstration aimed to stop developers from cutting down trees in a park has grown into nationwide disturbances. Riot police continue to clash with defiant protesters.

Thousands of people fill the streets on a nightly basis since protests began May 31.
