Two potentially black-and-blue wedding attendees borrowed a jail cell for the night in Peterborough, Ont., after a fight broke out at a wedding reception.

Police say two men were arrested and charged with uttering threats in connection with the incident, which took place on Friday, March 25.

Police were called to the reception following an "altercation" involving "numerous wedding guests, some who(m) are family members." Three individuals told police they had received threatening messages from relatives at the event.

After a three-day investigation, police arrested and charged a 56-year-old Peterborough man with three counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. A 55-year-old man was also arrested and charged with two counts of the same offence.

It is not known whether the accused participated in the altercation at the reception.

The two men, who are not being identified to protect the names of the victims, are due to appear in court on April 21. Both individuals have been released.
