The RCMP have charged a Toronto man in connection with an incident involving a suspicious package that temporarily shut down Langevin Block – the building that houses the Prime Minister's Office.
The building was closed and evacuated early Wednesday afternoon following a report of a "suspicious person incident" and a suspicious package.
The package was rendered safe using a police robot and a man was taken into custody.
The building was reopened shortly before 3 p.m.
Mohamoud Jimale, 45, has been charged with one count of uttering threats and one count of mischief. He was scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning.
