A team of investigators from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada has been deployed after a Toronto-bound flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Ottawa Wednesday morning.

Jazz Air flight JZA8953 was headed to Toronto from Fredericton, N.B., when the crew reported smoke in the cockpit.

The flight, operating as Air Canada Express, was diverted to Ottawa after the crew requested a priority landing. The Dash 8 landed there safely at approximately 6 a.m.

All 69 passengers and four crew members exited the plane, and emergency vehicles met it on the runway.

Officials at the Macdonald-Cartier International Airport said there were no injuries, and reported no fire on board.

It is unclear where the smoke in the cabin originated.

Passengers were booked on alternate flights to their destinations.

The TSB is an independent agency that investigates air travel and other transportation safety issues.
