A two-year-old girl has died after she was pulled from a shallow pond in rural British Columbia.
CTV Vancouver reports that the little girl was last seen Saturday afternoon playing with other children on a large, five-acre property in Langley, B.C.. She was reported missing around 3 p.m.
A large-scale search and rescue operation was quickly deployed, including a police helicopter with infrared capabilities.
RCMP say the little girl’s body was eventually found at the bottom of an approximately three-foot deep pond. She was rushed to a Vancouver hospital and pronounced dead shortly after.
Langley RCMP say the incident has not been deemed suspicious.
“At this time we don’t see it as anything other than a tragic event,” Sgt. Garth Huziak of the Langley RCMP said.
The toddler’s name was not immediately known.
