A high-school student was arrested in Saint John, N.B., Monday after a stabbing on a school bus.

Police say two teenage students were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after they were stabbed with what their friends said was a knife just before 9 a.m.

The students are both male, aged 16 and 17.

One of the students remains in hospital, while the other was treated and released.

“The suspect was arrested on the bus and he is in custody now,” Sgt. Chuck Elgee of the Saint John police told CTV Atlantic.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the case. Police say the youth is being held for a 30-day psychological assessment following a court appearance Monday.
