A dozen centimetres of snow may be enough to bring New York City to a halt, but it's not enough to stop the New Brunswick trains from running on time.

A video posted to YouTube on Tuesday captures striking footage of a CN train barrelling through heavy layers of snow near Salisbury, N.B.

In the video, the locomotive is half-visible at a distance before it plunges into a series of deep snow drifts and disappears behind a moving cloud of white.

It briefly appears just before the railway crossing, then slams through a snowbank and kicks up snow to obscure the camera.

New Brunswick remains under an extreme cold alert after it was hammered by winter storms earlier this week. Those storms have buried the Salisbury area under about 100 centimetres of snow, according to Tourism New Brunswick.
