An Alberta mother is pleading with the public for any information about her stolen laptop and SD cards, which contain irreplaceable photographs of her daughter who died eight years ago from cancer.

Kelly Deegan says a laptop, two SD cards, heirloom jewelry and other valuables were stolen a week ago from her boyfriend’s car, which was parked in an underground parking lot at 4440 Gateway Blvd. in Edmonton.

The laptop and SD cards contain photographs of Deegan’s daughter Madeline, who died on Feb. 5, 2007 at the age of nine.

Edmonton Police are investigating the theft. But Deegan is making her own public pleas to anyone who may know something about her stolen items.

“I hope that somebody out there is going to see this and have a heart and just please give me the pictures back,” Deegan told CTV Edmonton. “If anything, the pictures.”

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Deegan also says the jewelry “has been handed down to me by my Nanny, Mom and friends who have also passed away.”

She is asking that anyone who comes across jewelry that they suspect may be stolen to come forward. Deegan says she has scoured Edmonton’s pawn shops to no avail.

The theft occurred just as Deegan was preparing to move to Calgary, and she had to leave Edmonton as scheduled on Friday.

“When I had lost my daughter in 2007, leaving that hospital was the worst thing I ever had to do,” Deegan told CTV. In her Facebook post, she says she felt “so empty and heartbroken knowing all my previous memories are somewhere out there.”

Deegan is asking members of the public to contact her via Facebook they have any information, and to share her post to spread the word about the theft.

As of early Wednesday morning, the post had received more than 10,000 shares.
