Most of Ontario is under a special weather statement as snow falls across an area spanning from Kapuskasking to London.

The snow started to fall at around noon in most parts of Ontario, part of an "Alberta clipper" storm system passing over the province.

Environment Canada forecasts that the storm will bring snowfall to all areas, but parts of the Ottawa Valley and Grey-Bruce region may be hit with as much as 12 centimetres of snow.

The rest of the province can expect between five and 10 centimetres to accumulate by Friday morning.

A cold front associated with the storm will bring brisk, gusty northwesterly winds, bringing in cold Arctic air starting Thursday evening. As the wind moves in, visibility may be reduced due to blowing snow.

Environment Canada warns that drivers should expect delays Thursday as a result of the storm. They should be wary of untreated roads, which are likely to become snow-covered and slippery.

The snow is likely to have a "considerable impact" on the afternoon and evening commute, the statement warns.
