A man trying to break into a home in Vancouver was caught and chased by the homeowner only to get stuck on the side of a cliff while trying to get away.

“He was stuck and wasn’t able to go anywhere. He had to wait until the emergency response team […] could come with ropes, rappel down, arrest him and bring him safely into custody,” Sgt. Doug Trousdell, from North Vancouver RCMP, told CTV Vancouver.

On Thursday, police told CTV Vancouver that they received a call from a man who told them someone was trying to break into his home.

But instead of just waiting until police arrived the homeowner decided to chase after the robber.

He chased the suspect down towards the Capilano River where the suspect ran along the stream towards a suspension bridge and then tried to climb a cliff to escape.

Unfortunately for the suspect he became stuck.

According to the RCMP, the suspect was a 22-year- old man known to the police.

He was taken to the hospital with some minor injuries and nobody else was hurt.
