Durham Regional Police in Ontario say they were able to track down a robbery suspect after he left his ID on a restaurant counter.

Police say the suspect entered the Wing It restaurant in Oshawa, Ont., on Sunday evening, allegedly refused to pay for an order and threatened an employee.

Police say the suspect demanded food “while indicating he was armed with a gun although no gun was seen.”

The suspect fled the restaurant after the employee called police, but he left his health card on the counter. Police tracked him down at an Oshawa address, where he was arrested without incident.

Gary Powell, 25, of Oshawa, has been charged with robbery and failing to comply with a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing.
