HALIFAX -- RCMP in Nova Scotia have seized a transport trailer carrying nearly 300 kilograms of marijuana and almost 20,000 tablets of LSD.

The Mounties say the 18-wheeler was stopped in Brooklyn, about 60 kilometres from Halifax, last Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation.

Police say officers searched the truck and seized 272 kilograms of marijuana, 19,800 tablets of LSD, just under two kilograms of magic mushrooms, 47 methamphetamine pills and a small amount of cocaine.

The driver and lone occupant of the transport truck was arrested and charged with four counts of trafficking and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

The man from Frasers Mills appeared in court last week and is scheduled to return to court later this month.
