RCMP say they are "pleased" with the public's response to a Kamloops constable whose karaoke performance at a bar has gone viral.

Const. Kevin Roy surprised and delighted many patrons at the Central Station Pub in Kamloops, B.C., last weekend, when he took to the karaoke stage to sing "Superman" by Five for Fighting. Cora MacClaren, who was in the crowd at the time, recorded the video and posted it on Facebook, where it has received more than 1,800 shares since Sunday.

MacClaren says Roy's performance was "really fun," but he was still "doing his job" during his visit to the bar.

"I've never seen that before in my life. I'm so glad that a cop would do that," MacClaren told CTV Vancouver on Tuesday.

She added that Roy was talking to people at the bar, "making sure they stay out of trouble, making sure they were okay."

A spokesperson for the RCMP said the organization is pleased with positive reaction.

"We are really fortunate to have that great support from our community every day," Const. Jason Epp told CTVNews.ca in an email.
