PEGGYS COVE, N.S. - Nova Scotia RCMP are hoping weather conditions will allow them to start a search today for a man who was swept off the rocks at Peggy's Cove.

They say rough weather prevented an underwater team from looking for the man yesterday, but that they would reassess this morning.

The 25-year-old from Ontario and a woman were walking along the shoreline when a large wave swept him into the ocean at around 12:15 Wednesday afternoon.

A helicopter from the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre and three coast guard vessels helped in a search Wednesday.

It ended about six hours after the man was swept into the water.

The man's name has not been released.
