Police in Quebec have issued an arrest warrant for a convict who has escaped from a minimum security federal institution.
Police are looking for Robert Gaudette, 55, who was serving “an indeterminate sentence” on second-degree murder at the Federal Training Centre in Laval, according to a statement from Correctional Service Canada.
Staff discovered that Gaudette was missing during the 5 a.m. head count on Tuesday, the statement said.
CSC staff immediately contacted the RCMP, the Surete du Quebec and Laval police and the arrest warrant was issued.
Gaudette stands 5’11” and weighs 189 pounds. He is described as having a fair complexion, green eyes and light brown hair. He also has a surgical scar on his abdomen.
“CSC will investigate the circumstances of this incident and is working with the police to locate the offender as quickly as possible,” the statement said.
Anyone who has information about Gaudette’s whereabouts is asked to contact police.
