Prince Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, will pay a short visit to Canada next month, arriving in time to celebrate the Victoria Day holiday.

Charles and Camilla will be in Canada from May 18 to 21 and will visit three provinces: Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Manitoba.

The tour “will not only highlight Canada’s achievements and our shared heritage, but will also look to the future of Canada and how we will continue together to build a country that is the envy of the world,” Heritage Minister Shelley Glover said in a statementissued Friday afternoon.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess will visit six communities, according to a news release issued by Buckingham Palace. They will be in Halifax and Pictou County, N.S. on May 18 and 19; Charlottetown, Bonshaw and Cornwall, P.E.I. on May 19 and 20; and in Winnipeg on May 20 and 21.

Among the highlights of their visit will be Victoria Day celebrations and fireworks in Charlottetown, and an appearance at the Manitoba legislature.

The visit will mark the couple’s third visit to Canada. They were last in the country two years ago, and paid their first visit in Nov. 2009.
