Ottawa police have released video footage that is linked to the investigation into the recent break-in at the home of Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau, CTV News has confirmed.

The security camera footage, released Friday, shows a man that appears to be talking on a cell phone approaching a home in Ottawa's Rockliffe area.

Ottawa police is seeking the public's help in identifying the man.

Ottawa Police Const. Marc Soucy told CTVNews.ca that the man in the video is currently considered a "person of interest."

He added that there have been past prowling incidents in the Rockliffe area.

Trudeau's home was broken into last weekend while his wife and three young children were asleep inside. The Liberal leader was in Winnipeg at the time.

A police source confirmed to CTV News earlier this week that a note was left inside the home, warning the politician's family to lock their doors.
