INNISFIL, Ont. -- A man has been charged after police say he threw a Christmas tree at his wife during a domestic dispute south of Barrie, Ont.

South Simcoe Police say the 35-year-old Innisfil man got into an argument after coming home from a bar early Sunday morning.

They say he threw several household items at the woman, including the seasonal tree.

Police say the tree's metal stand caused a minor cut to the wife's leg and that a bucket full of mop water was also tossed at her.

The man is charged with assault and is due in court in the new year.

Police say he is not to reside with or contact his wife.
