HALIFAX - The Nova Scotia Teachers Union has reached a tentative agreement with the provincial government, but both sides are mum on the details for now.

All the union will say is that it has suspended its work-to-rule job action, which will be "phased out" beginning Monday.

The union adds in a news release that its executive is recommending the tentative agreement be accepted by its 93 hundred members.

It says the agreement will be provided to members at meetings around the province over the next two weeks, and a ratification vote will be held February 8th.

The teachers began a work-to-rule campaign on December 5th.

The union's members have twice rejected contract agreements recommended by the union executive, and voted overwhelmingly in favour of a strike.

Education Minister Karen Casey says in a statement that she's pleased the two sides have come to an agreement.
