ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. -- A 73-year-old Elliot Lake, Ont., man is facing 10 charges arising from a harassment investigation.

Provincial police say a woman reported a man would leave notes while she was away from her home and also show up there unannounced.

Investigators allege that in the latest incident, the man mailed letters of a sexual nature to himself and made them appear as though they came from the woman, then confronted her with them.

A man was arrested following a search of an Elliot Lake home during which police seized several items, including several insecure firearms, handguns and ammunition.

Banford Smith is charged with criminal harassment, three counts of careless storage of a firearm, and six other firearms-related counts.
