Autopsies on seven-year-old Nia Eastman and her father have determined the causes of death were homicide and suicide.

In a statement released Tuesday, the RCMP said the specific causes of death will not be released, but there is no evidence anyone else was involved.

Adam Jay Eastman was found dead on Nov. 10, the same day RCMP issued an Amber Alert to find seven-year-old Nia Eastman. She was later found dead the same day inside a residence in Choiceland, Sask.

Police say no charges will be laid but the investigation will continue. They are still piecing together what happened in the last moments of the little girl’s life.

RCMP said Nia’s father, who picked her up from school on Nov. 9, was supposed to drop her off at her mother’s place in Nipawin, Sask. by 7 p.m. that evening. Nia never arrived.

Neighbours told CTV News that Adam Jay Eastman and Nia’s mother, Crystal Eastman, had recently separated. Court documents showed that Nia’s father was facing a sexual assault charge in connection with an August incident involving Nia’s mother.

Adam Jay Eastman had posted several photos of a girl who appeared to be Nia on his Facebook page in the last several years. On the day of Nia’s disappearance, her father changed his profile and cover photo to an image of a skull and crossbones with the text “Leave me alone. I’ve had enough.”
