It looks like a scene out of a Jason Statham film: a motorcycle ripping so quickly through narrow tunnels that the walls and lights become a blur on video shot from a helmet-mounted camera.

But a video uploaded to YouTube over the weekend isn't a Hollywood film. It's of someone speeding on a dirt bike, sometimes faster than 80 kilometres per hour, through Carleton University's extensive underground tunnel system. The tunnels, which run for several kilometres, are meant for walking and are usually packed with students during the school year.

"I rode them, it was loud, and slippery," reads the description on the video posted by Logan M.

But not everyone is impressed with the video. Ottawa police know about the video and are considering an investigation, which could end in mischief and dangerous driving charges. If Logan M is a student, his studies could be suspended.

Campus security told CTV Ottawa they are surprised the incident wasn't reported.

"We do work 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our staff was out patrolling buildings. For someone not to have seen it is unusual it's a big campus, and it's just fortunate no one was in the area to be hurt," said Richard Sabourin of Campus Security.

Campus security says it has cameras in the tunnels, but they did not capture the stunt on their video record. They would not tell CTV News where the cameras are located, or how many are there.

That has some worried that if a dangerous joyride can go undetected, other illegal activities might also go unnoticed in the tunnels.

It's not the first stunt pranksters have pulled in the tunnels. Skateboarders, marching bands and campus shuttle hijackers have all had their fun in the tunnels.

"The tunnels are good for some things," a female student told CTV News. "Outside, especially at nighttime can be even more scary, but that (video) doesn't make me feel very good."
