A driver faces charges after a Mercedes-Benz was clocked tearing down a rural road at more than double the speed limit in rural Ontario on Saturday.

A traffic officer with a radar gun recorded a black 2013 Mercedes-Benz going at 194 kilometres an hour in a posted 80 km/h zone on Saturday, according to Ontario Provincial Police. The driver had been going at 114 km/h over the speed limit on a two-lane road through a rural area near Caledon, Ont.

Detrik Liznick, 38, of Caledon, has been charged with racing a motor vehicle, and has had his car and licence seized for seven days, police said.

"Driving 50 or more (kilometres an hour) over the posted speed limit is one of the most serious and reckless forms of aggressive driving," Const. Tamara Schubert said in a news release.
