Manitoba prisoner captured after fleeing during medical leave

WINNIPEG - A prisoner is back behind bars after a brief escape in Winnipeg on Thursday afternoon.

Correctional Service Canada says Jacques Larente had escaped during an escorted medical leave from the Stony Mountain Institution just before 3 p.m.

Winnipeg police were notified and they arrested Larente at about 4:40 p.m..

Officials from Correctional Service Canada and Stony Mountain are conducting a joint investigation to determine how Larente was able to escape his guards.
