A man has been taken into police custody after an altercation involving a hatchet went down at a Toronto McDonald’s restaurant Wednesday morning.
The incident began when two men reportedly began arguing inside the McDonald’s restaurant at Malvern Town Centre in east Toronto around 9:30 a.m.
The men allegedly went outside, where they began to fight. Security guards came to break up the fight, police said, and the men reportedly shook hands.
However, police say one of the men then took off, retrieved a hatchet from his truck and drove back to the McDonald’s.
Moments later, police allege, the suspect ran inside the restaurant and tried to attack the man with hatchet.
The would-be assailant was quickly disarmed. No one was seriously injured, but police located one person with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say that person was injured in a fist fight and was not stabbed.
A man in his 20s was taken into police custody.
