Toronto police have identified 27-year-old Julian Weekes as the victim of a fatal shooting early Saturday.

Det.-Sgt. Mike Patterson says Weekes was found lying on the ground at Parliament Street and Richmond Street.

Patterson says Weekes was shot while attending a memorial for his friend Ceyon Carrington, who was fatally shot last month.

But he says say there's no evidence to connect the two deaths.

Paramedics say Weekes had multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Patterson says the suspect was seen running quickly away from the scene of the shooting.

He says there's no information to suggest the shooting was gang-related.

Police want to hear from anyone with information.
