PLACENTIA, N.L. -- RCMP in Newfoundland say a man faces multiple charges after bags of cocaine were tossed from a stolen car during a chase with police.
The Mounties say the incident began early Sunday in Placentia when officers tried to stop a car to check its registration.
It turns out the car had been reported stolen that night.
But instead of pulling over, police say the driver sped up and starting driving on side streets.
At one point, police say two bags containing 15 grams of cocaine were thrown from the car's window.
RCMP say the car eventually stopped in nearby Ferndale and a 24-year-old Placentia man was arrested at the scene.
Police say he is due in court on Nov. 13 on charges of possession of a drug for the purpose of trafficking, flight from police, taking a vehicle without permission, impaired operation of a motor vehicle by a drug and driving without a valid licence.
