An Alberta woman returned to her vehicle after walking home from the pub this weekend to find a note thanking her for not driving drunk – along with a voucher for chicken wings.

Paula Schultz, of Sherwood Park, Alta., says she left her SUV overnight at Original Joe's Pub and Restaurant because she'd had too much wine that evening. When Schultz returned the next day to find a note on her windshield, she feared it was a ticket.

"I thought I was getting in trouble," she told CTV Edmonton.

Instead, it was a thank you note.

"Just wanted to thank you for leaving your car parked overnight," said the note, written by Jay McLean, manager of Original Joe's Pub and Restaurant.

"I'm not sure if you had consumed alcohol at our restaurant or not, but we wanted to thank you for not drinking and driving."

A voucher was enclosed with the note for one pound of chicken wings. "Please accept this as a thank you for being responsible," the note said. "Life is valuable, have a great weekend."

Schultz posted an image of the photo on Facebook, adding in the caption that she is "so impressed" with the restaurant for the kind gesture.
