A newly married Edmonton woman has put out a call for help locating missing memory cards that contain hundreds of photographs from her wedding day.

Erika Lajoie married her husband Joel surrounded by loved ones at a ceremony last Saturday. “Our friends were there, our family was there – it was an incredible day,” LaJoie said.

But now the couple has only a handful of photos from their special day. Earlier this week, their wedding photographer told that the memory cards holding hundreds of their wedding day photos were lost.

“I just sat there and I kind of held my head in my hands,” LaJoie said.

What’s worse, the couple had asked their guests to refrain from taking photographs during the ceremony.

“Knowing that just makes it all that much worse because you’re just like, ‘shoot, you’re the only one who took the photos,’” LaJoie told CTV Edmonton.

The day of LaJoie’s wedding, her photographer travelled to two other locations for other photo shoots. She noticed LaJoie’s wedding photos were missing on Sunday night.

“Just knowing that I won’t get to see any of those, it sucks,” LaJoie said. “It’s sucks big time. We’ll have some, but the family shots -- those are irreplaceable.”

A field in Whitecourt, a town located about 180 kilometres from Edmonton, is one of the places where the missing memory cards could be.

So, LaJoie and her friends are now scouring the area for any trace of the cards.

The small group, including the photographer, spent hours searching for a clear D-shaped case that stored the memory cards, which are blue and yellow.

LaJoie put out a call on Facebook for help to retrace the photographer’s “steps and locations” in an effort to locate the missing case.

LaJoie said that people want “more specific locations,” but because the photographer had done three different photo shoots that day, it’s too hard to narrow down the search.

But she’s not giving up, hoping that memories of a day close to her heart will turn up.

“I just don’t want to stop until we find them,” LaJoie said.
