Environment Canada has issued a frost advisory for most of southern Ontario and parts of Quebec as unseasonably cold temperatures and light flurries hit the region on Sunday.

The agency predicts will temperatures will plunge to near or below zero overnight and last until Monday morning, causing frost that could severely damage plants and crops and create hazardous driving conditions.

Periods of rain are also expected throughout the region.

Temperatures are expected to rise into the high teens on Monday once a warm air mass takes over the region.

Some areas of Quebec such as Miquelon – Desmaraisville and Gouin Reservoir are under snowfall warnings, with as much as 15 centimetres of snow expected to accumulate overnight.

Meanwhile on the other side of the country, temperatures soared to summer-like highs on Sunday.

Vancouver saw a high of 21 C and sunshine on Sunday, while temperatures reached 18 C in Calgary.
