Former general joins board of Halifax-based defence firm

HALIFAX -- Canada's former top soldier has joined the board of a Halifax defence and simulation firm.

Atlantis Systems Corp. announced today that retired general Rick Hillier will join the board of directors.

The training company says in a news release that it's hoping that Hillier's knowledge and expertise will assist the firm's growth.

More than 100 people work out of the company's headquarters.

It is one of four locations where the firm designs and manufactures software and the physical training systems used by public and private customers in the defence industry.

Since retiring from the military, Hillier has written several books, including "A Soldier First," and has developed his own public speaking agency.
