City officials in Halifax says the city is receiving up to 25 reports an hour of locations about flooding or water pooling.

City spokesman Darrin Natolino says crews have been clearing catch basins to allow for proper drainage before temperatures drop Sunday night.

Environment Canada's rainfall warning for Halifax ended Sunday afternoon and temperatures are expected to drop as low as minus 19 overnight.

Natolino says the city will begin salting once temperatures are below freezing, but that salting is ineffective until the rain stops.

He says an overnight parking ban will allow crews to widen streets before the Monday morning commute.

Police in Halifax have urged motorists to be cautious of the changes in driving conditions.
