Police say "family drama" may have played a role in the deaths of three men in a Montreal suburb.

The men's bodies were discovered in a home in Boucherville, Que., overnight.

Officers say they received a call shortly after 12:30 a.m. Friday, from a woman concerned about the occupants of the house.

Police arrived to the address to find the home on fire and three bodies inside. Firefighters extinguished the flames, and crews were allowed to begin their investigation.

Police have not confirmed the identities of the men, though neighbours believe a father and two grown sons were in the house, CTV's Rob Lurie reported Friday.

Traces of flammable liquid were also found on scene.

Officers remained at the home on Friday to investigate how the men died and how the fire was started.

"The fire complicates … the events here. We still don’t know, were the bodies dead before the fire? Was it the smoke that killed them? We still have to investigate more," Longueuil Police spokesperson Tommy Lacroix said, adding that the neighbourhood is usually quiet.
