FORT SASKATCHEWAN, Alta. -- Police near Edmonton say two bodies found outside a home after a shooting were a man and a woman who knew each other.

They also say there were children living in the home, but that they weren't inside at the time.

RCMP say they received a call Friday morning about shots being fired at the house in Fort Saskatchewan.

They say the man was 54 and the woman was 46, but they aren't releasing their identities.

Investigators have spoken with the families and are now working with the medical examiner's office to determine the cause of death.

Insp. Gibson Glavin said Friday that there is no gunman on the loose and the public is safe.
