The Canadian government says it is aware of reports that a Canadian has died while fighting in Libya.
In a statement, Global Affairs Canada would only say that it is “aware of reports that a Canadian citizen has passed away in Libya.”
The department would not release details, citing privacy issues.
The statement added that Canada has been “extremely concerned to hear of foreign fighters, especially Canadians, participating in terrorist activities perpetrated by the so-called Islamic State.”
