A six-year-old boy who was the subject of an Amber Alert has been found safe.

The Ontario Provincial Police say the boy, who went missing Thursday afternoon, was found safe and in good health late Friday afternoon.

The boy was found in the backseat of a Honda CRV in Griffith, Ont., about 150 kilometres west of Ottawa.

Police say the suspected abductor -- the boy’s father -- is in police custody following an arrest in Griffith.

Police say the suspect left Saint-Eustache Thursday evening in a white pickup truck and allegedly used three different vehicles to travel roughly 1,500 kilometres during the 24-hour manhunt.

The last vehicle the suspect used was a charcoal grey 2006 Honda CRV. On Friday afternoon, officers issued a warning the car could be in the area of Napanee, Ont. and minutes later had the vehicle located.

Police are now looking for Yvon Lacasse, 71, who they say is associated with the Honda CRV allegedly used by the suspect to drive to Griffith.

“We didn’t find (Lacasse) in the vehicle when we arrested Ugo,” Asselin said. “(The suspect) could’ve left him at many places.”

The boy's mother and the suspect's wife was found dead in a home in Saint-Eustache. Police say she had four children, including three before her relationship with the suspect. The three other children are now staying with their father.
