His name is Anderson, and he has a need for speed.

But the three-year-old Kitchener, Ont., boy hit a bump in the road two weeks ago, when his classic IGA pedal car was stolen from his great aunt's front porch.

And Anderson was devastated.

"I miss my pedal car," he told CTV Kitchener.

"It's gone."

However, thanks to some kind community members, Anderson is back behind the wheel.

After hearing about Anderson's plight, Bill and Jill Fleming -- who own a Sobey's in nearby New Hamburg –- tracked down an almost exact replica of his car that was gathering dust in one of their storage rooms.

"We thought the little guy deserves a car, it's a collectible item type thing and we wanted him to have it," said Bill Fleming.

And this week, Anderson was reunited with his favourite four-wheel antique vehicle.

"I have a surprise for you," said his great aunt Heidi Ostner, who wheeled the car out from her garage.

"A pedal car?" said Anderson.

Ostner said that she received many calls from community members who wanted to help get Anderson back on the road.

"One person thought they spotted it in Cambridge (Ont.) and took pictures of it," said Ostner.

"We had a few leads that didn't turn out, people really wanted to get this car back for Anderson," she added.

Ostner said she was grateful for the Flemings' surprise gift.

"It's unbelievable it turned out like this, we didn't think we'd get the car back," said Ostner.

And even though it may not be Anderson's exact car, he doesn't need to know that.

"I go fast," said Anderson.

"I'm so happy I have my car back," he added.
