GANDER, N.L. -- Police in central Newfoundland say a 15-year-old boy has been identified as the person they were looking for after someone was seen walking down a street in Gander wearing camouflage and carrying a rifle.

The RCMP say the boy was carrying an Airsoft rifle and was returning home after playing with friends when he was seen on Edinburgh Avenue.

Police say no crime was committed but they did explain to the boy that his actions could cause a reaction from the public.

Police received a report on Sunday evening of a man walking with a gun slung over his shoulder, which caused police from several detachments to briefly close roads in the area.
