A person has been found dead inside a tent in B.C.’s Oppenheimer Park, Vancouver police confirmed Wednesday.

The body may have been in the tent for days before being discovered, police said. It’s unclear whether the death is being considered suspicious.

Tents began appearing in Oppenheimer Park in late July, prompting eviction notices from the city. Last week, B.C.’s Supreme Court ordered campers to clear out of the park by 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Vancouver police were called in to enforce the deadline, and had been preparing for potential confrontation while clearing out the homeless encampment.

Several officers were equipped with body-mounted cameras to film the eviction.
