An Amber Alert for missing 9-year-old Ontario girl Layla Sabry has been concluded, according to police in Ontario.

Police say the alert has run its course in terms of time but police say Sabry remains missing, as does her mother.

They say Sabry may be with her mother, Allana Haist. The pair was last seen Thursday around 6 p.m. in Welland, Ont.

Staff Sgt. Paul Rogers told CTVNews.ca, “We are still actively looking for this young lady and her mother. There is a court order that we will be enforcing to apprehend the child for now and sort all of this out.”

Rogers added police are not concerned for the girl’s safety at this point.

“We just need to have all of this sorted out. She’s with her mother and we have no reason to believe that she wouldn’t be safe,” he said. “She’s a loving mother and we are hoping we can bring this to a resolve very quickly.”

Police have said they are operating under a court order to return Sabry to her father; however Rogers says there is a chance that the child’s mother may not even be aware of that court order.

Layla Sabry is described as white, four-foot two, with light brown hair and brown eyes.

Her mother, who police say also goes by the aliases of Kate Dillon or Lana Marie, is described as white, five-foot-one, with medium-length brown hair and brown eyes.
