SAINT ANDREWS, N.B. -- Natural Resources Canada says there was an earthquake in southern New Brunswick on Wednesday.

The department's website says the 2.6-magnitude earthquake happened around 10:20 a.m. local time about 19 kilometres east of Saint Andrews.

The website says it has received some reports of weak to light shaking, while others reported no effects at all.

Statistics Canada says about 1,900 people live in Saint Andrews.

Natural Resources says a 2.6-magnitude earthquake on the Mercalli intensity scale means the earthquake was felt by few people.
