One person is dead and two others have been injured in a helicopter crash near Fox Creek, Alta.

RCMP say the Bell-206 helicopter went down approximately 25 to 30 kilometres southwest of Fox Creek on Monday evening. A 44-year-old woman was killed in the crash.

The female pilot was airlifted to hospital, and another male passenger was treated and later released from hospital. Their ages have not been released.

Alberta Agriculture and Forestry says the helicopter crew was conducting aerial surveys for pine beetles before the crash. The organization offered its condolences to the families of those involved in the incident.

The Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
