DAVOS - Prime Minister Justin Trudeau continues his re-branding of Canada's economy today with three marquee events and several high level meetings.
But it remains unclear why a session called "A New Beginning for Canada," and a luncheon called "A New Chapter for Canada" are both closed to the media.
Trudeau will also join a panel focused on gender parity alongside billionaire philanthropist Melinda Gates and Facebook executive Sheryl Sandberg. It is an interesting topic at a forum that is 83% male.
Meanwhile, Trudeau is continuing with his attempts to give Canada a fresh image at the World Economic Forum: focusing less on resources and oil, and more on diversity and technology.
It's a message that is being warmly received by many here, but has angered some politicians and energy groups in recession-hit Western Canada.”
Other notables scheduled to meet with Trudeau:
- Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and CEO of Renault-Nissan Alliance.
- Jack Ma, billionaire and CEO of Alibaba (China's version of Amazon)
- Bill Gates, Founder of Microsoft
Trudeau will also meet with Canadian reporters later today.
