While the Toyota Corolla, the Lexus IS 300h and the Mazda 6 earned the maximum possible safety rating in recent crash tests performed by the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP), the Opel Adam and Mitsubishi Space Star passed with four out of five stars.

Among the models recently tested by the Euro NCAP, the Lexus IS 300h scored highest for child occupant safety (85 per cent) and pedestrian safety (80 per cent), while the Toyota Corolla earned the highest safety rating for adult occupants (94 per cent).

All of the vehicles tested in the Euro NCAP are evaluated based on four main criteria: adult occupant safety, child occupant safety, pedestrian safety, and safety assistance technologies.
