The first commercial flying car has officially gone on sale.

Manufacturer PAL-V has launched the sales of its commercial models, the "Liberty Pioneer" and "Liberty Sport," with deliveries of road and air certificated models are scheduled for the end of 2018.

"After years of hard work, beating the technical and qualification challenges, our team succeeded in creating an innovative flying car that complies with existing safety standards, determined by regulatory bodies around the world," says the company's CEO Robert Dingemanse. He adds: "This truly is a pivotal time in aviation and mobility history."

Pal-V, which first started test programs of its concept vehicles in 2009 and 2012, has created a unique dual engine propulsion for its Liberty model, which also features lowered suspension and a tilting "cockpit" for an extra sporty approach. The car functions as a normal three-wheel road vehicle with an added aviation bonus feature.
