Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) dropped 707-horsepower Hellcat engines into the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger in recent years, but until now the fastest Jeep SUV available was the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT.

That's all going to change in 2017, when the Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat edition is expected to become available to dealers.

Asked point-blank by vvuzz.com journalist Brian Makse at the 2016 Detroit auto show on January 11, Jeep CEO Mike Manley didn’t shy away from sharing the exciting news that the Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat is being developed and will be available next year.

Whether or not it'll adopt the rumoured “Trackhawk” name is yet to be seen, and pricing and detailed specifications are likely to become know closer to its delivery in 2017.
