Ford is bringing back the top-line F-150 Limited trim for the 2016 model year, to meet a rising demand for advanced, luxury pickups (see photos).

The F-150 Limited pickup unveiled on July 21 in Los Angeles will go on sale in the winter of 2015 as a 2016 model, and will start at about $60,000 US ($77,600 CDN). Most will likely leave dealerships optioned out to around $70,000 US ($90,500 CDN), according to Automotive News.

Buyers will get aesthetic upgrades such as 22-inch polished aluminum wheels, a trim-specific grille, satin-chrome exterior trim, and a hood with raised “Limited” lettering. Under the hood will be Ford’s 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 while features such as chrome front tow hooks, power-deployable running boards, quad-beam LED headlamps, remote start and tailgate release, as well as an integrated trailer brake controller all come standard. Ford's recently unveiled Pro Trailer Backup Assist will also be available.

Inside the Limited will feature Mojave leather seats with massage functions, a 10-speaker Sony sound system, and accents made of aluminum and fiddleback eucalyptus. The trucks will also get a laser-engraved numbered plaque mounted to their center console.

“The F-150 Limited sets a new bar for what discerning customers should expect in a high-end truck,” Raj Nair, Ford product development chief, said in a press release. “We’re adding segment-exclusive technology, and features that improve productivity, convenience and capability with distinctive style.”

Ford said about 60 percent of its F-150 sales this year so far have been of high-series trims like Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum, driving the real-world average sale price up to $44,100 US ($57,000 CDN), nine percent higher than they were summer 2014.

Ford first offered the luxury Limited trim on F-150 in the 2013 and 2014 model years, but discontinued it on the all-new aluminum-bodied 2015 model.
