1. Churchill railway: The U.S. rail company that owns the severed line to Churchill, Man. has a plan to restore the only means of land-based transportation in and out of the community before winter. But it says it won’t bankroll the cost of repairing damage caused by severe flooding in May.

2. Homemade bomb: Winnipeg police say a homemade bomb caused a truck fire and crash over the weekend. One of the passengers in the truck says the inside of the vehicle was in flames instantly.

3. Search for a killer: RCMP have issued a Facebook plea for help from a small, isolated community to find the killer of Leah Anderson, a 15-year-old girl who was brutally slain in Gods Lake Narrows, Man., in 2013.

4. Opioid concerns: A new study is raising concerns about the small pool of Ontario doctors prescribing the majority of the medications used to treat the opioid addiction.
